Epidermal leveling removes dead cell buildup and fine vellus hair. Alone or may be added to any facial and most peels.
Dermaplaning is a simple and safe procedure for exfoliating the epidermis and ridding the skin of fine vellus hair (peach fuzz). This technique has been used for many years. It is a great treatment for patients who are pregnant or nursing that want a deep exfoliation, but cannot use peeling agents on their skin.
Vellus hair is a type of human hair that is fine, short, light-colored or translucent, and non-pigmented. It develops from childhood and is found on most areas of the body. It is physiologically impossible for your vellus hair to grow back thicker. Once the hair is cut, it has a blunt edge; however, this blunt edge does not mean that the hair structure itself has been physiologically altered or will thicken in any way. During dermaplaning the aesthetician uses a very fine, specially designed sterile blade, creating less of a blunt edge; therefore, making the results last longer and the regrowth will be less visible.
