Delaware Cosmetic Surgery FAQs

Q. Do tummy tucks hurt?
A. Through the use of a new device called a “painbuster” Dr. Saunders has found that the pain from a tummy tuck can be dramatically minimized. This local anesthesia device allows for numbing in the area of the surgery for several days post-op. Couple this with a deluxe/overnight stay with one-on-one superior nursing care and most patients find recovery to be fairly easy with minimal pain. All of this is included at no additional cost to the patient. Oral pain pills may still be needed but the reduction in pain from the “painbuster” can be amazing.

Q. Is breast augmentation right for me?
A. Breast augmentation is an extremely popular procedure with an incredibly high rate of satisfaction. If you are small breasted to begin with or have lost volume in your breasts from child bearing, breast augmentation is probably a wonderful option for you. Most women truly love the natural look and soft feeling results that can be achieved with saline or silicone implants. Many find that clothes are easier to find and fit more proportionally after breast augmentation. And, of course, swimsuits are more fun to shop for! An individual consultation will determine if this procedure is right for you.

Q. Do I need a facelift?
A. A thorough consultation is helpful and necessary in determining if a facelift is the appropriate procedure for you. The concept of facial rejuvenation is more appropriate, as there are a wide range of options to rejuvenate your face. Dr. Saunders performs feather facelifts, mini facelifts and full facelifts which vary in price and the extent of rejuvenation they offer. Each of these procedures are appropriate at different stages of aging. Dr. Saunders uses advanced high-tech surgical procedures for his facial rejuvenation including fat transfer, SMAS lifting and multiple vector lifting.

Other procedures can be done, as well, in combination with facelifts. These may be eye tucks which address bags and dark circles under the eyes and drooping of the upper eyelid. Brows are commonly done to rejuvenate the forehead and raise the brows to a more youthful position. Different skin resurfacing techniques are also used to address fine wrinkles, deep lines, and age spots. This coupled with a strong skin care routine can be a short term alternative to a facelift. Though only the skin is addressed by resurfacing, facial fillers and Botox are also used in combination with all of these procedures to compliment and fine-tune the facial rejuvenation.

An extensive discussion of facial rejuvenation is available in Dr. Saunders’ book A Woman’s Guide to The “Real-Realty” of Cosmetic Surgery. And of course, a consultation will provide you with in-depth answers to your questions about facial rejuvenation.
